Should you wish to arrange a Special Interest Tours and Safaris in Pilanesberg or to any other destination in Southern Africa, please contact us and let us make the arrangements for you. Here are some suggestions as to what we as a company specialise in.
Conservation Safaris
Available in Pilanesberg, get involved in the necessary conservation and veterinary procedures employed by the North West Parks and Tourism Board for the protection, monitoring and conservation of our rhinos. Minimum Group Size: 10 persons
Please contact us for bookings and availability.
Tiger Fishing Safaris
Undoubtedly the king of freshwater fish - the Tiger (hydrocynus vittatus - translates literally as the striped water dog), whose speed and strength will test any keen fisherman's skills, can be found in South Africa mainly in the Komati River (near Kruger National Park) or in the Pongola River (Kwa Zulu Natal). They are also very plentiful in Malawi, Mozambique and Botswana.
The largest species is the Goliath Tiger (Hydrocynus goliath) found in the Congo system.
Wilderness Trails Safaris
Available in Pilanesberg, Kruger and in Hluhluwe-Umfolozi National Park in KwaZulu Natal.
Minimum Trail: 3 to 5 days
Please contact us for bookings and availability.
Wilderness Trails allow adventurous travellers a close personal encounter with nature. Under the guidance of an experienced and armed game ranger, parts of the bush can be explored on foot by small groups of a maximum of 8 people. This way one can get into close contact with the wilderness and the game.
The emphasis of the trail is to spend time on foot, not only looking for the large mammals but also the smaller creatures - the aspects of the bush that are normally overlooked. In keeping with the wilderness atmosphere, sites for the safari trail camps are carefully selected for their scenic beauty and diverse plant and animal life.
Birding Safaris
South Africa ranks as one of the top birding destinations in the world. An incomparable combination of variety of birds, first class hotels and accommodation facilities, an excellent network of internal airline routes and a multitude of South African car hire companies (including the large internationals) and a supportive avi-tourism industry makes South Africa one of the most desirable birding destinations in the world.
Birders from around the world come to experience both the great variety of typically African birds, migrants, and Endemic Birds. These birders enjoy excellent birding, whether they are with an organised commercial birding tour or are touring independently. Of the +/- 850 bird species recorded in South Africa, about 725 are resident or annual visitors, and 50 of these are endemic or near-endemic and can only be seen in South Africa. Apart from resident birds, South Africa hosts a number of intra-African migrants such as cuckoos and kingfishers, as well as birds from the Arctic, Europe, Central Asia, China and Antarctica during the year many visible on a our safaris in Pilanesberg.
Eco Tourism and Ethical Safaris
Ideally, ecotourism should satisfy several criteria, such as:
-
- minimize impact
-
- build environmental and cultural awareness and respect
-
- provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts
-
- provide financial benefits and empowerment for local people
-
- raise sensitivity to host countries' political, environmental, and social climate tourism to unspoiled natural resources, with minimal impact on the environment being a primary concern
-
- minimization of tourism's own environmental impact
-
- affordability and lack of waste in the form of luxury
- local culture, flora and fauna being the main attractions
